Our first longer road trip with both kids was done on Tuesday. We drove to San Diego for Shane's doctor appointment and back. The trip, one way, depending on traffic, is 2 1/2 hours long...so it can be a bit of a long trip. Both of the kids did pretty good, actually. They slept the way there. On the way back, Kade was awake the entire way. He did really good and so Daddy got him some very noisy Tonka trucks at Costco as a reward. We heard the blaring police sirens for the remainder of the trip (thanks Shane). Kallista wasn't quite as happy. She cried for about 15 minutes and when we stopped for gas we saw why...a huge blowout in the diaper department. So a change then a good feeding while the boys went shopping in Costco. Okay for a bit more and the last half hour of the trip she wasn't having it...possibly gas?! But Kade was so good sitting next to his crying sister. He would just tell her don't every now and again.
As for the doctor...uneventful. Shane felt like it was a wasted trip. No back surgery, just keep taking meds and go to the chiropractor.
This is a video of Kade on the trip being goofy. He loves having his shoes off in the car. To entertain himself, he was touching his toe to his nose.
Kade has quickly learned how to ignore my camera and blatantly give me a bad picture...darn boy! No matter how much I called and told him to put down his toy and look at me, use funny sounds, or call his name, he would just put the toy right in his face like no way mom!
