Smith River

One of our favorite things to do when it's warm on the coast, is to go up the river.  There is a certain spot on Smith River that we love because it has small falls and an awesome swimming hole.  It was such a HOT day when we went, but the water was ice cold.  Jen and her pregnant belly went swimming and the rest of us got pretty wet.  I didn't post any pics of my mom or sis as they wouldn't appreciate it too much.  So, here are some shots from the day...the smaller photos are unedited.

Unedited photo of part of "our spot" up the river.  The water is deeper than it looks and quite chilly!  It's pretty clear too!

There were tons of salamanders up the river and as you will see they occupied a good portion of Shane & Sienna's time up there.

Close up of the salamanders Shane and Sienna were catching.

Shane, the expert salamander catcher.  He probably caught about 30 of these guys and put them in another contained area of the river.

Sienna catching salamanders too...

...and dumping them back into the river.  You can see the tail of one salamander sticking out of the bucket.

Watching Uncle Shane with the salamanders.

I love her little belly...This look says either "What is Uncle Shane doing?"  or "What are you doing?"

Uh-Oh...salamander on the run!
