Our little girl, Kallista Arya Rollins, was born on Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:10 PM. She weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and measured 18.5 inches long.
We were induced at 6:30 AM that morning (the day before our due date), starting at 4cm dilated. I got an epidural at noon, that quickly wore off. Dr. Kasko broke my water at 2 PM, and I started having contractions right after. I felt all, as the pain medication didn't work. Luckily I didn't have to push too long. Kallista was born at 4:10 PM. She was laid on my chest and the cord was wrapped around her neck, so Dr. Kasko unwrapped her from the cord quickly. Then they took her over to clean out her mouth and nasal passages. She was screaming and the doc and nurses mentioned what a temper she had.It took a while clearing her out and making sure she was stabilized, but finally she got handed back to me.
She had jaundice and a blocked tear duct, but other than that healthy!!!
We called my Mom, who had flown in the day prior and was watching Kade for us. Just after Kallista was born, she brought Kade up to see his new little sister. At first, he just clung to Shane, hugging him, and wouldn't look at me or Kallista. Slowly, he warmed up and touched her hand. He was very curious about her feet and kept wanting to touch them. Now he is a wonderful big brother and loves to help out.
We were released from the hospital two days later on Friday, October 5th.
We are all excited about our newest addition, even though it means a lot of new things to get used to. Here's a few pictures of our first 2 days with Kallista...
