Christmas in a Muslim Country

Dushanbe has a variety of religions from all over the world, but the most prevalent is Muslim. However, you can walk down the street of Dushanbe and find Christmas trees, Santa Claus, and other traditional Christmas items. However, all of this commercialized propaganda is all part of their New Year celebration, what they assume westerner's are celebrating as well. People stand and pose next to a waif-like Father Christmas as their picture is taken on the street corner here in Dushanbe. Children smiling widely as their parents snap a shot with the generic Mickey Mouse. It is quite an interesting sight!
