I love this picture I took of one of our preschool students peeking through the seat of the trolley.
The Dushanbe trolley in all it's glory! Notice the wires on it's roof.
We saw this vehicle on our trolley ride.
The trolley of Dushanbe.... It is unreliable, but cheap (75 dirhams or 20 US Cents one way). It looks like a bus, but has huge electrical wires on the top connecting it to the main trolley system. There is a man that always rides on the back of the bus, outside, hanging on a ladder. It is his job to exchange the wires when the bus comes to a point when it needs to be transferred...which is quite often, at almost every intersection.
We took our students on a field trip to one of the main stations here at Dushanbe. This station has 57 trolley buses. They showed us the grounds and took us on a ride, which was a rare treat, as we were the only passengers. Usually the trolleys are bursting with people.
